Tarot Cards and Dream Interpretation

Dreams, especially my dreams, have never been straightforward in their messages. Meaning can often times become jumbled, causing us to focus on certain aspects over others. I've recently started using different tarot spreads to help with dream interpretation. I came across this post by Labyrinthos and decided to try the Dream Mirror - or 7 card spread.

The dream:

In the dead of winter, in the middle of the night, my mother wandered into the forest and away from safety. She was chasing after something. She was then pursued by a predator, lion or wolf. While out there, lost and alone in the cold she sent me pictures of herself. These selfies were increasingly worse, with the last selfie apparent that she was about to die a violent death.

Her eyes looked helpless and haunted. I couldn't help her because the same predator hunting her was also outside my room/house. Waiting for me. As long as I stayed there, I was safe but unable to help her.

1. Waking life environment: The Moon - Reversed

You have been receiving mixed messages that are causing you to question yourself. You have a desire to take positive action but are unsure what direction to take. To achieve clarity you must dig deeper to unroot your self-limiting beliefs.

2. Dream world environment: Knight of Pentacles - Reversed

Through a lack of change and variety you are feeling bored and trapped by life. Your lifestyle affords you security but at the cost of experiencing what life has to offer. These circumstances can ill prepare you for change. If you don't learn to go with the flow you will become stagnant.

3. Waking life emotions: High Priestess - Reversed

No more excuses, it is time to slow your mind and engage with your higher self. You already know what you want to do and have to do, but you are too scared to do it. Stop distracting yourself with external things and come back to center. Your innate self is desperate to be heard by you. Stop smothering her.

4. Dream world emotions: Strength

Connecting your inner and outer strength is needed to deal with challenging situations. You have all the tools necessary to master yourself, and thrive in any environment. Allow yourself to be guided by your higher consciousness and take responsibility for yourself.

5. Foundations: Five of Cups

There are no failures, just temporary setbacks and lessons to be learned. While you may be wallowing, don't allow yourself to regress. You are in control of your actions and emotions, and you decide how you move forward. It's time to prove to yourself that you have grown as a person.

6. Lesson: Princess of Cups

Be open to receiving new experiences and trust your gut. Pay attention to the synchronistic symbols and events in your dreams. These are messages from your guid. Do not smother your emotions or your intuition. Empathy and vulnerability are your strength.

7. Waking life block: Two of Cups

Yin and yang, male and female, dark and light. We all have two sides to ourselves. This duality seeks balance. It is time to start treating yourself with the same compassion you treat others. Embrace all aspects of yourself in order to move forward.
