Like many kids, when I was younger I loved collecting bugs. I didn't keep them for long (with the exception of a spider that made a home in one of my jars), I just liked looking at them. To this day, I still enjoy creepy crawlies, and will remain eternally fascinated by creatures that are so different from us, yet exist alongside us.
I've compiled a list of the most dazzling bugs and insects for your enjoyment.
There are a variety of jeweled beetles, so called because of their shiny exoskeletons. They can be found on almost every continent and come in a variety of forms, colours and sizes.
Another type of jeweled beetles, the imperials tortoise beetle has an exoskeleton with a pattern and shape reminiscent of a turtle's shell. These beautiful beetles are tiny in size, but come in many shades of blues, pinks and golds.

This trickster convinces pollinators that it's an orchid, and captures them when they stop to pollinate what they think is a flower. Regardless of it's sinister nature, it is beautiful all the same.
These curiously patterned creatures are so named because they're often found on Mesquite trees, but don't get too close! They're known to set off a rather unpleasant odour when disturbed. As they get older however, their colour becomes quite drab.

Often found in shallow bodies of water in Europe, the males are easily recognized by their bright red bodies, while the females are characterized by golden yellow bodies.
Found in many parts of Asia, including China, India and recently Singapore. While they make beautifully coloured caterpillars, the butterflies are even more gorgeous.
